i have never posted a topless picture/ any kid of nude picture of my tumblr but..
this is SO AWESOME. a muslim woman protesting the burka. in some countries, muslim women are raped and beaten for showing even their noses and mouths. in some places, they get their hands chopped off for showing their wrists, or looking at a man.
this picture is so inspiring and outrageous in the best way possible, and it makes me so so happy. wow is all i have to say. stand up for your human rights.
simply amazing.

(via GeekDad’s daughter remakes the game of chess (Wired UK)) prescriptive advice to students for “big idea generation,” and at the top of my list is maintenance of an irreverence for the principles and principal figures in one’s field. If you’re not careful, I scold, you will become indoctrinated in the implicit assumptions of a scientific community, unable to see in certain intellectual directions. Better to remain aloof, so you are psychologically more able to be irreverent and more likely to make a revolutionary discovery.
Whereas we adults may have to be taught to be irreverent, intellectual irreverence comes naturally to kids, out of sheer ignorance. And although ignorance is generally a vice, for creativity it can be a virtue.
Sometimes referred to as white privilege, in this case 1st-world-privilege.
We really have no clue when it comes to how lucky we are to have been born on this chunk of land, or to be living on it. They are raping female activists in Iran in the jails every day they are there. In Kosovo, bodies are being pieced back together after massacres in order to be identified. People are watching their children die from drinking unclean water in locations all over the planet.
